SPAN Edge comes pre-installed with PowerUp. PowerUp is an integrated overcurrent protection feature in every SPAN Edge and Panel that enables seamless integration of high-current appliances (like EV charging and electric HVAC) in homes on their existing service size. PowerUp can help utility companies defer distribution and transmission infrastructure upgrades to meet their electrification goals.
For more information and documentation on SPAN PowerUp visit the SPAN Tech Portal.
Utility companies that install SPAN Edge can set dynamic service set points during peak use events and adverse weather conditions to protect their grid infrastructure and avoid power outages across service territories.
- Dynamic Service Rating is set by utility partners and is a temporary service rating which is lower than the Firm Service Rating. Allows control of residential loads for a group of one or more participating homes during a set time period. Multiple use cases for system balancing and transformer loading
- Firm Service Rating is set by SPAN Authorized Installers and conforms to utility service size and NEC compliance
